THE QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK FIRST

Orlando planning FAQs.

These cover the decisions that come up repeatedly when travellers are choosing dates, parks, accommodation and a budget.

Where should I start when planning an Orlando holiday?

Start with who is travelling, possible dates, trip length and a realistic budget. Then choose the parks and experiences that matter most; those choices guide your hotel, transport and ticket decisions.

What’s the best beach near Orlando?

It depends whether you want the shorter Atlantic Coast trip or a Gulf Coast beach day. Daytona, New Smyrna and Cocoa Beach are closer east-coast options; our family went to Clearwater for a Gulf Coast day and found the journey much longer.

How long should I spend in Orlando?

There’s no single right length. Our family’s 11-day trip meant choosing priorities and leaving some things out. List the parks and days out you want, then allow time for travel, rest and weather changes.

Can you do Orlando without hiring a car?

We did. We used Uber, walked to some nearby places and used Disney’s boat during our Riverside stay. We also checked the main hotel’s advertised shuttle timetable. It worked for our hotel locations, but long journeys and busy park closing times needed extra planning.

How do I choose the right Universal Orlando ticket?

Decide which parks you want to visit and on how many days before comparing ticket types. We chose one-day Park-to-Park because we wanted both parks and the Hogwarts Express. Check current access, dates and terms before buying.

How much does an Orlando holiday cost for a family?

It depends on dates, flights, hotel, tickets and spending style. We tracked £7,896.38 for our family of three in August 2026. Use that as one dated example, then price your own trip.

Is a package holiday better than booking everything separately?

It depends on whether you value having arrangements brought together or want more control over each booking. Compare the same dates, room, bags, tickets, transport, fees and terms before deciding.

For current destination information and ticket details, check Visit Orlando and the relevant theme park’s own site. Ticket prices and access can vary by date and product.
