Compare the same basket
| Include in both totals | What to match |
|---|---|
| Flights | Airports, dates, cabin, bags and connection details |
| Hotel | Same nights, room, guests, meals, taxes and mandatory fees |
| Getting around | Transfers, hire car or a realistic rideshare allowance |
| Park tickets | Same parks, days and access rights |
| Booking terms | Who organises the booking, support, cancellation and payment rules |
The lowest price only tells you something useful when the inclusions match. Confirm the protection and support that applies to the exact booking.
Start with the holiday you actually want
Before comparing prices, write down the essentials: dates, airports, nights, hotel area and standard, baggage, park tickets, transfers or car hire, and any special stays. If the two options don’t include the same things, the cheaper headline price may not be the cheaper holiday.
Our August 2026 trip was built around a 10-night Lake Buena Vista base, then one night at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside and one at Universal’s Cabana Bay. We travelled without a hire car and chose a one-day Universal Park-to-Park ticket. That specific shape mattered more to us than finding one standard fly-and-stay offer.
What a package may make easier
A package may combine flights and accommodation, and some offers let you add transfers, car hire or tickets. Depending on the booking and provider, having a single organiser can make changes and support simpler. Check exactly what the price includes, who the organiser is, what protection applies and what happens if plans change.
Don’t assume every package includes park tickets, bags, seat selection, transfers or the hotel extras you need. Ask for the written breakdown and check the terms for that exact trip.
What booking separately gives you
Booking each part yourself can make it easier to choose different hotels for different nights, compare departure airports, or add activities that don’t fit a standard itinerary. It also means you need to coordinate the bookings, check the rules with each supplier and understand what protection applies to each booking.
We tracked £7,896.38 for our family of three on the 11-day trip. That is our historical total, not a typical price or a live quote. Our listed fixed costs came to £4,838.84; food, local transport, activities and shopping made up the rest.
A fair price comparison
Build one checklist and price both routes for the same travellers and dates. Include flights and baggage, hotel nights and room type, resort fees, seats, insurance, transfers or car hire, tickets and any extras you know you’ll buy. Note the payment and cancellation terms beside the total.
Then compare convenience and flexibility as well as pounds: who helps if a flight changes, whether your hotel choices match, and whether you’re comfortable managing multiple suppliers.
